Dressing up in the RV for a Melbourne Cup Campsite lunch

A great excuse to dress up

Just because we're on the road doesn't mean we have to cut corners! Especially since the campsite is putting on quite a show with marquees and lunch for us all.
A collection will go to Starlight Foundation.

Roy - on Route 66 and loving it

Synchronicity! Route 66 - a shop window we saw today on the Central Coast!

It's Roy's 66th birthday today.

He said "why didn't you tell me 66 was such fun?"

He always used to claim "I'm not old, I'm younger than Indiana Jones (H.Ford).

Today he said 66 feels and sounds younger than 65.

Maybe it's all the baggage that comes with turning 65, retirement age etc. Or maybe it's our new nomadic lifestyle.

Anyway, I'm planning to spoil him today, starting with fresh mangoes and a full breakfast cooked in the Silvery Nomad.

66 today and loving it!

Absolutely absolute waterfront

It doesn't get more absolute than this

We've brought along our electric scooters to get around on

A nice Sauvignon Blanc sunset. Absolutely delightful

A brief tour through NSW's central west taking in Oberon, Orange and Bathurst left us missing a waterfront view, so we went for absolute waterfront. Any more waterfront and we'd be in the drink (oh, we are).

Two and two half adults - our 4 berth Diversion is put to the test!

Two of our 4 grandchildren come for a sleepover

They can't wait for dark to sleep in the van

A successful day! Another tooth!

Our supply of carrots rapidly dwindled

And another little visitor on Sunday

Two of our grandchildren came for a day and a sleepover in our RV at Windsor, NSW. The Diversion is supposed to fit four adults, so we'll see!

The little one declared it "the best day ever!" (She may have heard it on a DVD, Tangled, but we were delighted anyway!

Camping Characters & Curiosities...The other Sydney Harbour Bridge

The other 'Coat-hanger' & Opera House at Tall Timbers, Shoalhaven Heads

Alan & Peg Beveridge's campsite creation

As I promised, I also want to show characters we have met on the road.

Alan explains his inspiration this way.

"I actually hate Sydney, but I had some stuff lying around and some time. The kids in the park love it, and at Christmas time we add some lights and Santa."

And a fireworks spectacular on New Year's Eve? I wondered.

Probably not.

It might set fire to a few on-site homes and vans.

A new friend and camping neighbour Jenny - on the road with a pair of frisky young sausage dogs.

A Jervis Bay beach we visited named 'White Beach'. What else?'

A magic silver bullet for the problem of dull everyday living

Wide angle stretch - we're not actually as long as a silver bullet train (only 7.5m)

7 mile beach to the left

We've had to delay our trip to Victoria till about mid- November, so we're sitting out the school holidays outside of Nowra in NSW (Shoalhaven Heads).

No particular plans after this, but that's the joy and freedom of this new lifestyle.

Roy is set to do quite a bit of work in his mobile office (and our travelling home)!

VIDEO - ROY'S TRILOGY OF EGYPT THRILLERS ABOUT DANGERS FROM ANCIENT PAST

'The Smiting Texts'... No #1 of a trilogy about dangers from the ancient past

Here's some of the work my husband Roy is writing while on the road on our journeys of the Silvery Nomad (his mobile office and our travelling home)!

An Australian roadside sign for Seinfeld. Yatta Yatta...

Seinfeld conversations on the road

Some of the names of towns and hamlets you pass on the road in NSW, Australia, are simply put here to relieve the tedium of long distance driving, we are certain.

Like the sign on the way to Nowra. It says "Yatta. Yatta." No joke. Well, just maybe.

We couldn't help but imagine Seinfeld making a roadside call from here.

"Hi Elaine."

"Jerry! Where are you calling from?"

"Australia, Yatta Yatta."

"Yadda yadda?"

"Yep. I'm right here underneath a road sign, Yatta Yatta."

"Tell me everything."

"Yatta Yatta. That's it."

"Yadda, yadda. Pretty boring, huh?"

"Well, it's just Yatta Yatta."

"George! Stop trying to grab my phone..."

"Hi Jerry! It's me. Elaine keeps going yadda yadda yadda and I want a word with you! Where are you?"

"Yatta Yatta."

"Don't be like that..."

So now we've stopped outside Nowra, NSW, at a place called Tall Timbers.

Roy took the dog for a walk to the nearby beach.

"You've got to see that beach," he said, amazed, when he came back to the van. "There must be nine miles of sand out there."

"Seven Miles."

"At least," he said.

"No, Seven Mile Beach."

"Easily..."

What, no sun, no internet, no phone, no TV??

3 days of rain - this wasn't in the brochures

We made a wish for better weather

Better weather. A wonderful beach at Kioloa

but, on reflection, we are both iPad, iPhone and internet tragics...

So... it was time to move on again
