Our new RVer fills a dog-shaped hole in our lives

Anubis (Newbie) is settling into RVing really well.
Quite a self-contained little guy who is happy to curl up in the motorhome and go to sleep if we go shopping or out for a meal.
We called him Anubis because he looked just like Mighty Anubis, Egyptian dog god of the underworld. Not.

Back in the gemfields, Queensland...finding sapphires!

Thrill of the hunt

We found this - 2.55 carat blue sapphire

It was 5.2 carats before cutting

Humungous 18.5 carat sapphire - but presents cutting difficulties

Maybe we'll just have it polished in Thailand

We're back in Sapphire at a favourite resort in central Queensland on the Tropic of Capricorn.
We have now found 7 good sapphires (including, yesterday, a lovely star sapphire of 2.85 carats) and heaps of smaller ones and garnets to be cut and polished cheaply in Thailand. It really is addictive.

And then there were three again! We have a newbie RVer!

Anubis, or 'Newbie'

The Entrance, NSW, just across the lake

Newbie's first sunset RVing
We tried going without a dog for 3 months, but it wasn't the same.
So here is our newbie RVer - Anubis. He's just 8 weeks old, a Bichoodle.
We're smitten and feel complete again.
Life's too short and the road too long to be without a pup.

Port Macquarie - we've found another favourite!

This place has it all including glorious sunsets

Back to NSW, after a stay in Brisbane and briefly Coffs Harbour before spending some time in Port Macquarie.
A new one for our favourite list!
We'll be back.

We discover gems! A gem of a Retreat and sapphires too!

I don't like washing up, but this...
I'm hooked

Sapphire Park Retreat reminded us of African game lodges...

except here we have wallabies at sunset
Another brilliant gem - a friendly local sits on Roy's knee

We're in the Queensland gemfields now.
I LOVE fossicking!
I found two lovely sapphires - "cutters" they call the good ones and they're being cut for us overnight... and found plenty of smaller sapphires and zircons which can be polished cheaply in Thailand.
